Bozdağ Film Studios is a purpose-built historical film set in Turkey's Marmara region, created by producer Mehmet Bozdağ and his company Bozdağ Film to shoot large-scale Ottoman and Seljuk period television series. Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Kuruluş: Osman were both filmed here, and the site has gone on to serve later productions set in the same historical world. Rather than a single soundstage, it is an open-air landscape of full-size reconstructions: the timber-framed felt tents of a nomadic Turkic encampment, wooden village houses and workshops, a market street, a Seljuk-style palace hall and the stone walls of a Byzantine-style castle. The detail is theatrical rather than archaeological, but the scale conveys how the series were staged. Visits are short by nature — an hour or two on foot covers the main sets — and the studios are usually combined with other stops on a day trip rather than visited alone. Filming still takes place, so individual sets can be closed off at short notice. Everything is outdoors and largely unshaded, which makes spring and autumn the most comfortable seasons; interest in the place depends almost entirely on familiarity with the series.
