Karacasöğüt is a small village and sheltered yacht harbour on the southern shore of the Gulf of Gökova, in the Marmaris district of Muğla province on Turkey's Aegean coast. It is reached by a winding road that climbs north out of Marmaris through pine forest before dropping back to the sea, and the setting — wooded slopes falling into a deep, protected inlet — defines the place. The village itself is modest: a quay lined with gulets and yachts, a few waterfront fish restaurants, small guesthouses and little else. It is best known as one of the embarkation points for Blue Cruise gulet itineraries along the Gökova gulf, a quieter alternative to the larger harbours at Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye. Boats head out from here to anchorages and swimming coves along the shore, including English Harbour and the inlets around Değirmen Bükü, where swimming is done off the boat rather than from a beach. The gulf is a protected area and the water is usually glassy in the morning, with the northwesterly meltem breeze building through the afternoon — one reason sailors favour it. The harbour is busiest from late spring to early autumn; outside the charter season the village is very quiet.
