Sarıgerme is a coastal resort village in the Ortaca district of Muğla Province, on Turkey's Aegean coast, close to the town of Dalaman and its airport. Pine-covered hills come down to the sea here, near the Dalaman plain and river mouth. The village exists for its beach: a long band of sand with Blue Flag status, backed by pine forest rather than a seafront road, with a small island lying just offshore. The water shelves gently and stays shallow well out from shore, which is why the resort has a steady family following. The same sand is used by nesting loggerhead turtles, so the beach is managed under conservation rules through the summer nesting season. On the wooded rise behind it lie the modest remains of ancient Pisilis, a settlement of the Carian coast. Sarıgerme itself is compact — a short main street of shops and restaurants, with most of the larger hotels set back among the pines — and quieter than the bigger resorts nearby. It works as a base for a stay rather than a day-trip stop, with excursions running to Dalyan, İztuzu beach and Göcek. The season runs from late spring into October; in high summer the middle of the day is very hot, and the beach is best early or late.
